Border Security: Dramatic Arrest of Pakistani Smugglers with 29 Kilos of Heroin

In the village of Gajni near the border, on Monday morning, a joint operation was conducted by the Border Security Force (BSF) and Counter Intelligence teams from Firozpur and Ludhiana. During this operation, two Pakistani smugglers were arrested after a shootout. One of them sustained a gunshot wound and has been admitted to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the interrogation of the other smuggler is ongoing. In this operation, 29.2 kilograms of heroin were seized in 26 packets. DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that the operation continued until 10:30 AM. The investigation is underway to determine the identity of these smugglers who were attempting to bring narcotics. The apprehended smugglers have been identified as Ajmal and Sivana, both of whom hail from Kasur district in Pakistan. This is the eighth significant heroin seizure this month, with a total of 142 kilograms seized in the last 20 days.

The smugglers were attempting to exploit a breached fence in Firozpur. Due to a damaged portion of the old fencing, they had ventured into the water. As soon as they approached the new fencing, BSF personnel opened fire, resulting in the capture of both smugglers.

The Pakistani smugglers were concealing the heroin in a 50-liter blue plastic drum. Two keypad mobile phones, a black tube, and other items were also recovered. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, Sections 29 and 30, the Passport Act, and the Foreigners Act, as per IG CI Ferozepur Lakbir Singh.

Arvinder Singh, aged 22, from Bhatthal village in Barnala, was the only son of his parents. He was found dead on the roof of his friend’s house in Sherpur. He had been missing from home for a few days.

Dulla, aged 22, from Sudh Singh Wala village in Firozpur, had been addicted to narcotics for six years. He occasionally visited home and was involved in drug trafficking.

Gursahib Singh, aged 17, a 12th-grade student from Munda village in Tarn Taran, had been trapped in the quagmire of addiction for four years. His parents were planning to send him abroad after rehabilitating him.
