The first match of the three-match ODI series between Pakistan vs Afghanistan is being played in Hambantota, Sri Lanka. Both teams are playing this series as part of their preparation for the Asia Cup, which is scheduled to begin on August 30th. This ODI series will conclude before the start of the Asia Cup. Pakistan is not in a good position in the first match. They lost two wickets in the opening two overs.

In the first over, Fakhar Zaman and Captain Babar Azam were dismissed. Mohammad Rizwan also returned to the pavilion shortly after. The fourth wicket, Aga Salman, fell after scoring seven runs in 29 balls. He was sent back by Rashid. After 24 overs, Pakistan has scored 91 runs for the loss of four wickets. Currently, Imam-ul-Haq is batting with 37 runs off 60 balls, and Iftikhar Ahmed is at the crease with 17 runs off 26 balls.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first. They faced an early setback in the first over when Fakhar Zaman was caught by Mohammad Nabi on the fourth ball of the over. Fakhar managed to score only two runs in four balls. In the second over, Mujeeb Ur Rahman dismissed Captain Babar Azam LBW, without him scoring any runs.

The Asia Cup is set to begin on August 30th. This time, the tournament is being played in the One Day International (ODI) format and a hybrid model. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are co-hosting the tournament. Pakistan will play four matches in Pakistan, while Sri Lanka will host nine matches, including the Super Four and the final.

The first match of the tournament will be played between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan. India, Pakistan, and Nepal are placed in Group A, while Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka are in Group B. Pakistan vs Afghanistan ODI

India will play their first match against Pakistan on September 2nd in Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, Afghanistan will play their first match against Bangladesh on September 3rd in Lahore. The top four teams from both groups will advance to the Super Four round. The Super Four round will begin on September 6th, where all teams will compete against each other. The top two teams in this round will face off in the final, which is scheduled for September 17th in Colombo.
